I came across the Sojourners website for the first time today. Here’s their Vision statement:
“We envision a future in which Christians put their faith into action in the passionate pursuit of social justice, peace, and environmental stewardship, working in partnership with people of other perspectives, for the common good of communities, families and individuals. We articulate that vision, convene and mobilize constituencies, and build alliances for effective advocacy.”
Last year, after Community Day, I heard a lot of positive feedback in response to the Christian Students & Adults affinity group. One person shared, without breaking confidentiality, that one thing she liked about the group was that it was a positive space that reminded her that Christian ≠ Conservative.
Reading this particular post today, ‘Hell You Talmbout?’ — Protest Music Meets the Church in the Streets, reminded me of that conversation. I hope that we can continue to make time/space for open, constructive and unprejudiced conversations about faith and spirituality during the 2015-2016 school year.
