Parents / Families Multicultural Committee

• An article from the Atlantic sent to me by Jasmine: The Coddling of the American Mind “In the name of emotional well-being, college students are increasingly demanding protection from words and ideas they don’t like. Here’s why that’s disastrous for education—and mental health.”

This article makes me wonder:

Where’s the line between cultural sensitivity and coddling? How do we practice cultural humility and respect for each other without overcompensating by coddling each other or censoring ourselves for fear of offending when we have a question? Rather than find empowerment through calling others out on their mistakes, how might we go about calling each other in and building each other up?
